The Stipula story begins in 1973 when this small family business - originally specialized in enameling - started in Florence. Their love for fountain pens and the decision to focus solely on them came about quickly and initiated their foray into this fascinating world of writing instruments and began producing them for over 45 years. A team of individuals who create this pens in Florence, succeeded in uniting ancient techniques with modern technology to create products of superb workmanship, and is that excellence in engineering and design that makes this pen a collector's item. Crafted in the black resin and 18k yellow gold, the bas-relief of the barrel catches men and horses in mid-flight during a game of polo. The unusual bird's-eye perspective accentuates the perfect synchronism of the movements of the participants in the game, man and horse alike, as each player strives to win a point. Polo is modeled and chiseled by Paolo Cerrini. An aquamarine cabochon is inserted on the top of the cap. This particular Polo pen is numbered 168/198 and signed by P. Cerrini.
