It features an automatic movement with 31 jewels and a caliber of 315, ensuring precision and reliability. Encased in an 18k white gold three-part officer-style case with extended screwed lugs, the watch measures 36.0 mm in diameter and has a hinged case back over transparent crystal, allowing for a view of the intricate movement. The round bezel is also crafted from 18k white gold.

The dial is adorned with painted radial Roman numerals, an outer minute and 1/5 seconds track, and a retrograde sector for the days of the month in the center. It also features apertures for the days of the week at 9 o'clock, the months at 3 o'clock, the leap years at 12 o'clock, and the moon phases. The hands are oxidized feuille style, adding to the elegance of the design.

Less than 1400 examples of the Ref. 5059 were made in 18K yellow, white, and rose gold as well as platinum. During its entire eight year run, less than 400 examples were made in white gold.
