THE ICONIC DIVERS’ WATCH GETS A COMPLETE MAKEOVER
It is immediately recognisable by its two crowns and internal rotating bezel. The new LONGINES LEGEND DIVER is now resurfacing with a 39 mm diameter, faithful to the original 1959 model from which it takes its inspiration. This authentic tool-watch is available with a black or blue dial.
Longines has always associated its name with the world of sport and exploration, whether on land, in the air or under the sea. As early as 1937, the brand launched the very first chronograph with water-resistant push-pieces, which it patented in 1938, followed by its first underwater watch in 1958. One year later, Longines developed a watch specifically designed for underwater exploration. This came with a revolutionary Super-Compressor case with internal rotating disc and two screw-down crowns: and thus, the iconic design of the Longines Legend Diver was born.
Today, this legendary tool-watch has expanded into a whole line of new models, revamped both inside and out. Presented in a completely redesigned 39 mm case, the new Longines Legend Diver is certified as a Divers' Watch (ISO 6425) with a water-resistance up to 30 bar / 300 metres. The entire watch is also chronometer-certified by COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), an independent control body. During the certification process, the watch head, with the movement running in the case, is tested for 15 consecutive, uninterrupted days in different positions at three temperature levels to guarantee its precision.
The model is driven by an exclusive Longines L888.6 calibre equipped with a silicon balance-spring and innovative components, offering a magnetic resistance ten times greater than the ISO 764 benchmark standard. This extremely precise self-winding mechanical movement has a power reserve of up to 72 hours.
The instantly recognisable dial has no date and is available in black or blue lacquer. It is topped by a domed sapphire crystal with black metal plating and multiple layers of anti-reflective protection on both sides. The hours are marked by elongated indexes and raised luminescent Arabic numerals. The new rhodium-plated and polished arrow-hands, coated with Super LumiNova®, mark the time with optimum visibility in all circumstances, day and night.
Another emblematic feature of this model is the internal bidirectional rotating bezel for measuring dive time. The bezel's position inside the case protects it from handling and accidental shocks that could disrupt its settings. The screw-down crown at 2 o'clock activates it on a graduated 60-minute scale, which is located on the case flange and capped at 12 o'clock with a luminescent triangle symbol.
The sleek new stainless-steel case features alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces. The collection's symbol, a diver, is stamped on the watch's perfectly-angled screw-down case back.
These models are available with a brown leather strap, a blue NATO strap and a new stainless-steel bracelet with a double-safety folding clasp.
